Ahead of the release of Annie Mac’s compilation album on 14th October the Radio 1 DJ shares her 2013 playlist and answers our quick-fire questions.
Describe yourself in 140 characters or less…
Wide-eyed and bossy-when-drunk Dublin DJ lady seeks fortune in London. Secures national radio platform to shout about rave music. The end.
Whose style do you admire?
My friend Aimee Philips [who manages the Scissor Sisters and the Drums]. She’s my dream dresser, she mixes high end and street wear, and is never without black lipstick and some vintage Chanel. I also love Rihanna’s style. She does casual so well - always with some Jordans and a leather snapback. Her outfit at Radio 1 in hackney last year blew my mind. Her stylist Adam Selman is incredible.
The most treasured item in your wardrobe?
It’s got to be my leather biker jacket. I bought it in Soho about 4 years ago. I don't know who it's by - the label is just a skull and crossbones - but it's incredibly cut with zips all over it and it's actually moulded to the shape of my body I wear it so often.
When were you last starstruck?
When I met Snoop Dogg on the beach in Jamaica in January this year.
Which bands were you obsessed with as a teen?
Blur were my band. When I was 15/16 I was obsessed. I had all the albums, knew all the words and dreamt of Damon - all the characteristics of a crazy fan.
Your favourite song lyric?
'I shall drive my chariots down your streets and cry,
Hey it's me I'm dynamite and I don't know why
And you shall take me strongly in your arms again
And I will not remember that I even felt the pain
And I will never, never, never
Grow so old again’
Van Morrison, Sweet Thing.
Your hidden talent?
I'm pretty good at fishing.
Who makes you laugh on Twitter?
Two Sophies. Sophie Heawood, @heawood and Sophie Wilkinson, @sophwilkinson.

Annie’s 2013 Playlist:

Your Drums Your Love (Duke Dumont remix) by Aluna George. I played this live on telly on channel 4's houseparty on NYE last year.

Open Eye Signal by John Hopkins.

I listened to John Hopkins’ Immunity LP non stop this summer. It reminds me of sitting in the garden with my baby on balmy afternoons.

Untitled by Paul Woolford.

This is my favourite song to play out this year. I played it at all the festivals this sum

When A Fire Starts To Burn by Disclosure.

The standout track from the Settle album and never off my ipod this year

That's The Way Love Goes by MNEK (Janet Jackson refix).

MNEK is young and insanely talented as a producer and songwriter. He does things like this for fun and gives them away for free on his Soundcloud. He's coming on tour with me in November.

Too Much by Drake and Sampha.

My current obsession from the Drake album which will see me through the winter....

We Got A Love by Shit Robot.

The song most played on my ipod right now.
