Want to know how Cheryl Cole packs for a flying visit to the Cannes Film Festival? Start with four daytime looks, two staggering gowns and about a dozen pairs of shoes, and you’ll begin to get the idea.
The singer talked us through her capsule Cannes wardrobe for an exclusive ELLE TV video, sharing what she loves about her Proenza Schouler dress and daytime looks from Ksubi and Hakaan. Plus, the shoes...
‘I’m in shoe heaven,’ she told us as she stood surrounded by nearly a dozen pairs, each higher than the next. ‘These travel with me, just so I can stare at them,’ she said of a pair of tan and fluoro orange Casadei sandals.
‘We like a bit of height. When you’re only five-foot-three, you’ve got to have height, girls.’
Cole, whose third solo album A Million Lights will be released on 18 June, said Cannes premieres involve ‘the most glamorous red carpet you’ll ever see.’
‘It’s stunning, literally—you have stairs of red carpet,’ she told us. ‘Even the paparazzi are dressed smart, and that’s saying something.’
She also offered a peek at one particularly splendid gown, custom-designed by Roberto Cavalli.
‘For the red carpet, you’ve got to have something really wow and really amazing,’ she said. ‘[H]e actually made [this] for me, which I’m absolutely thrilled about. It’s stunning. It’ll either be for Cannes or the Queen’s jubilee.’
Cole ended up wearing a gown by Stephane Rolland to her red-carpet event—expect the Cavalli gown to make an appearance at a Jubilee event.
As for the wildest thing she’s ever done for the love of fashion, it’s back to the shoes.
‘I do crazy things a lot for the love of fashion, like have sore feet for days on end,’ she said. ‘You do anything—you suffer for your art.’
