Last night Hollywood's A-list hit the red carpet in style for the first big awards ceremony of the season: the Golden Globes . And while, of course, we're terribly interested in who picked up trophies, this morning our attention is firmly focussed on the stars sartorial choices.
All eyes were on Natalie Portman . Not only did the former ELLE cover girl show off her growing baby bump in a blush coloured draped dress by Viktor and Rolf , she also picked up the best actress award for her performance in Black Swan .
And her dress was the front-runner in the biggest trend of the night. A host of celebrities opted for romantic, pale and interesting gowns - Scarlett Johansson in Elie Saab , Michelle Williams in Valentino , Anne Hathaway in Armani Prive, Leighton Meester in Burberry Prorsum, Megan Fox in Armani Prive and Sandra Bullock in Jenny Packham .
There were some who dared to be bold in brights, however. Both Mad Men stars Christina Hendricks and January Jones stood out in red, wearing Romona Keveza and Versace respectively. Angelina Jolie stepped out in a green Versace gown while Mila Kunis sported a Vera Wang creation of the same hue. Julianne Moore wowed in a hot pink Lanvin dress.
Of course, there were a handful of stars who played it safe in classic black. Halle Berry wore an ultra-sexy Nina Ricci dress, Olivia Wilde channelled her inner princess with a frothy Marchesa gown, and Eva Longoria and Kelly Osbourne opted for Zac Posen .
And a special mention goes to ELLE favourtie Tilda Swinton. Ever one to forge her own stylish path, she ditched the idea of a dress altogether and instead chose a full length yellow skirt from one of spring's hottest collections, Jil Sander , and paired it with a classic white shirt.
