This week, in anticipation of ELLE’s Fashion Bake Off on Wednesday – judged by discerning baking expert Gizzi Erskine – discussion at ELLE HQ has been very food focused (OK, so maybe it is every week). Point is, we have a lot to say on the subject of food so we canvassed the office to bring you ELLE’s definitive guide to where to find the most inspiring cooking blogs and books.

Florence Knight One: A Cook and her Cupboard is a beautiful book with easy yet delicious recipes – Florence is a fashion designer turned bloody brilliant chef who cooked at Polpetto when it was upstairs at the French House. She gets her own restaurant next year, in London's Soho – I can't wait.

There’s nothing twee about newly-launched magazine Beaten & Creamed. From its Proustian portrait of cult pâtissier, Cake Boy, to its guide to the best gentleman’s afternoon teas in London. Issue one is all booze-laden cupcakes and odd-but-right culinary pairings like goat’s cheese and chocolate brownies.

smittenkitchen.com – easy-to-follow recipes and beautiful photographs. The recipes I've tried have all turned out really well, too.

Agirlcalledjack.com – delicious food on a really small budget. Great for being economical with the ingredients in your cupboard.

northsouthfood.com – another budget blog also featuring great recommendations of where to eat out around the country.

I've always loved Nigella's Domestic Goddess – every single cake and desert appeals, especially the chocolate brownie recipe. Dangerous for the waistline though – access it in moderation

I'm a fan of domesticsluttery.com – amazing recipes with a pinch of humour.

I have a subscription to Olive. Don't tell anyone. It is my guilty pleasure.

Well Dunn With Jourdan Dunn is a spontaneous and hilarious YouTube cooking show, with supermodels. Jourdan Dunn is an absolute babe and Karlie Kloss and Cara Delevingne feature too.

Ottelenghi’s Plenty – Brilliant veggie recipes that taste delicious.

Jamie Oliver’s 30 Minute Meals – Easy to follow and failsafe .

Leon cookbook. My go-to for dinner party dishes.

Earthtoplate.wordpress.com is put together by my sister and brother-in-law – both vegetarians who love to cook!

Naturallyella.com has lovely seasonal recipes with pretty pictures (both savoury and sweet).

The story behind the person who writes theskintfoodie.com is really moving and inspiring – he’s a recovering alcoholic.

The Family Meal: Home Cooking with Ferran Adria – find out what the El Bulli staff ate before service every day and then rustle it up yourself. It lists ingredient quantities for 2, 6, 20 and 73 people. Handy if you have lots of very hungry friends.
