Hands up if you remember Robin Thicke’s summer hit ‘Blurred Lines’? Again, hands up if you remember shifting uncomfortably in your seat at fully-clothed Robin Thicke gyrating with naked beauties, singing 'you know you want it'? That's a lot of hands right there.

We recommend you all book tickets to Carrie Cracknell’s latest theatre production, Blurred Lines, immediately.

Written by Nick Payne, the man behind Constellations and The Same Deep Water As Me, Blurred Lines is described as ‘a blistering journey through the minefield of contemporary gender politics.’

The all-female cast examines what it means to be a woman today in the workplace, in cyberspace, on screen, on stage and in relationships.

When asked about the production and whether it could be deemed as ‘prudish’ Cracknell’s response was simple: ‘It's really easy for women to be accused of being prudish, but there is an absolute line about sexual consent that cannot be blurred.’

‘The rage I feel in relation to that song is about the idea of strong men, fully dressed, animalising and brutalising a group of scantily clad women.’

‘Of course sex is part of our life, but rape is not sex, and non-consensual sex for young women is a massive problem. A whole generation is growing up with their first sexual experiences being pornography, which is hateful and misogynistic, and this song is the tip of that iceberg.’

What with Beyoncé’s article on feminism and now this, we’re thinking that 2014 will be a year to remember for women!

Watch Cracknell’s new production in action from 16th Jan – 22nd Feb at the Shed Theatre, South Bank, London. Ticket line: 020 7452 3244.
