As the Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 2 promotional tour rolls on, ELLE's Features Director argues there's nothing wrong with a slightly-more-than-healthy interest in Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson...

So, just to be clear: this isn’t really to do with Twilight. I didn't make it to the end of the books and I've only even seen one of the films. Though I've seen that film, um, more than once.

It's not that. It's them. Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. I’m obsessed. I’m clicking links, poring over photos, frantic to know are-they-aren’t-they-oh-please-let-them-be.

I know it’s wrong. I’m an adult! I could be reading news or weighty book reviews. I certainly shouldn’t be wondering about the love lives of two total strangers who don’t really know how to behave. Or how to effectively hide from paparazzi.

But I can’t help it. It was the attempt to keep the whole thing secret that did for me. If they'd announced themselves as a couple three years ago my interest would have died within the hour. But meaningful glances on the red carpet? Dropped hints in interviews? Come ON, you guys! How am I supposed to resist the mystery?

And then, the events of this summer. The tabloid revelations blew any remaining attempts at discretion out of the water, and Kristen’s anguished press release pleading forgiveness from Rob demonstrated that, rather than being a tad aloof, she really does love him.

It was a classic Hollywood plot reversal. Happening in the actual Hollywood. Our heroine makes a foolish mistake and realises the depths of her feelings. But is it too late? Can she make him realise? If that wasn’t cliff-hanger enough, there’s a deadline looming: a huge world publicity tour for their new film for which they are obliged to appear together…

Tell me this isn’t like the plot of the best romance film you’ve never seen – only happening IN REAL LIFE. No wonder I’m hooked.

So I've given up pretending not to be. Perhaps it's the romance. Perhaps it's that the ending is still so uncertain. Perhaps, I thought after re-watching Twilight last night, it's just that Robert Pattinson is ludicrously hot. But if it's wrong - well, who wants to be right?
