Since this year’s landmark V&A exhibition dedicated to all things Bowie and the March release of the artist’s first album for ten years, Bowie’s name has been on everyone’s lips.

This week he produced his next move... Quite literally.

The 66-year-old spent his weekend self-producing the video for his single Love is Lost, spending just £8 and gaining 250,000 hits on the release day. He went with a spooky theme (apt, considering the single’s Halloween release date) and the resulting video is pretty haunting: it features Bowie cradling a replica puppet of himself from 80s video Ashes to Ashes.

He’s a fashion icon, a national treasure, a cult creator and one of the most renowned musicians of all time, but perhaps this video is Bowie’s way of publically saying goodbye to his former image, a new direction coinciding with his current decision against performing live.

Either way, Love is Lost has the familiar sound we’ve been craving from the icon, and we’re thrilled that Bowie is back.
