Who run the world? Girls. And what better way to celebrate this then at London’s South Bank Centre on 11 October, for International Day of the Girl.

Here at ELLE, you might have noticed we’ve been hitting headlines by ‘rebranding’ feminism for the modern woman in our November issue, out now. Well, if that has whetted your appetite for discussion, head down to the South Bank on Friday, October 11, where Jessie Ware, girl group Tomorrow’s Warriors, Ruby Wax and Jenney Éclair, among others, will be taking part in a day-long even to mark the UN’s second International Day of the Girl, dedicated to honouring girls and young women.

In the headline event, over 200 successful women from across all industries - including ELLE's acting content director Collette Lyons - will be ‘speed mentoring’ girls aged 11-18. This marks the launch of the Southbank Centre’s WOW Days initiative to encourage schools to bring feminism into the classroom.

Jude Kelly, Artistic Director of Southbank Centre, said: 'On International Day of the Girl Southbank Centre will be celebrating the formidable strength and power of girls.' The neighboring London Eye will change colour to pink and white to highlight the event.
