ELLE's music correspondent, Mark Ellen is on Rihanna's tour plane. Repeat - he's flying through the air with megastar Rihanna, designers makeup artists, and only a few magnums of premium champagne to sustain him.

Here is his diary from the third day;

The words 'Hello Canada!' from the stage of Toronto's old and very fabulous Music Hall suggest the 777 Tour has touched down in the second of seven countries in its week-long promotional sweep.

Hard to be sure as we've had ten hours' sleep since Tuesday morning. Can't imagine Rihanna's slept at all. First thing this morning she's waiting at the luggage carousel with the rest of us, a bodyguard gently stepping in when the 20th airport security officer or traveller on next-door's flight from Florida asks to have a photo taken with her.

When we get back to the private jet at half past midnight, she's pretty much the last one to load apart from her designers Mel Ottenburg and Adam Selman who stayed with her making sure all her clothes and accessories got packed away and shipped back to the hold.

Rumours shoot across the airport that we've missed the 12 o'clock curfew and the plane can't legally take off 'til 4 am which is going to make things tight in Stockholm. The first bit's true - we can't fly 'til four but some sweet talking gets The 777 off the ground and out across the Atlantic at just after 2am.

Gold bottles of Ace Of Spades fizz ($300 a pop) get upended and some of the press corps start singing the theme tune to Wayne's World. The whole caper is costing $3.6m for seven days (offset by key sponsors like HTC and Budweiser).

The most Universal Music have spent before was $1m for a week-long J-Lo tour but the media attention is mental, everyone's happy and Unapologetic is on worldwide release on Monday to tie in with the London show. Should be a press conference when we get to Berlin.

Even the designers don't know what she'll wear each night. They've made seven looks, one for each country, and she chooses which she wants to wear on the day.

We just met the brilliant girl in charge of 'Hospitality Liaison' - ie making any backstage dressing-room look Rihanna-friendly. They steam in a few hours before showtime and fling white drapes over everything and add sheepskin rugs, pink oriental fabrics and stacks of pink roses.

It's freezing cold here, makes Mexico seem positively tropical. Changes in temperature causing mass outbreaks of 'wardrobe crisis'.

Tomorrow Germany, next day France. Onwards! Upwards!
