The actress seems to think so. Watson, who recently appeared in My Week with Marilyn with Michelle Williams, told French ELLE she thinks she’s a little lacklustre in the fashion arena.

‘My problem is that I am a little bit boring. I don't wear designer bags or big sunglasses,’ Watson told French ELLE. ‘When I don't have to play Emma Watson in public, I'd rather not put myself “out there”. I have to be more careful with my look in my everyday life.’

Aside from the fact that there’s nothing wrong with ‘designer bags or big sunglasses,’ and that we distinctly recall Watson wearing both, plus runway gowns, we don’t see what the problem is.

There are some people we don’t want to see in edgy, directional pieces. We’re very happy for the Duchess of Cambridge, for instance, to stick to her classic lace gowns rather than u-turn into asymmetrical peplum territory.

Equally, Watson looks best in classics with youthful touches. A studded trench or a pastel Hakaan skater dress with waist cutouts seems—besides pretty high fashion—about as far as she needs to go.

Perhaps we can put this one down to an excess of modesty. Do you think Watson plays it too safe with her fashion choices? Or does she just know what suits her?
