How would you prepare to host a dinner with Michelle and Barack Obama in your home? Possibly the most stressful at-home catering scenario ever. And we get slightly panicky when friends pop round for pasta. Sarah Jessica Parker has called in the big guns ahead of tomorrow night’s fundraising dinner at her home on Charles Street in the West Village of New York.
Yesterday, her brownstone home was being given the Cinderella treatment as cleaning staff polished doorknobs, squidgeed windows, addressed the windowboxes, shined the doorbell, removed the piano and various other detritus to make room, bringing in chairs, dusting the window-sills and generally making everything spic and span for the arrival of FLOTUS, POTUS and the guests who have paid $80,000 (about £51,000) per pair of tickets.
Not all guests will have stumped up the sum, however. In a video earlier this month, Anna Wintour – who is co-hosting the soirée – said that they were ‘saving the two best seats in the house’ for a competition winner. The lucky dinner guest was selected on June 4th and their identity has not be revealed – we imagine, for security reasons defined by the Secret Service, who were also at SJP’s pad yesterday, sweeping.
