Post-Wimbledon, Novak Djokovic would’ve been totally forgiven if he didn’t want to look at another racket in a while. But the world no. 1 dusted himself off to host a tennis-themed charity gala in London last night – and Goldie Hawn and Kate Hudson were only too happy to put themselves centre court.

Eschewing traditional whites, the mother-daughter duo took to the court in their gowns – though, it has to be said, our former ELLE cover star Hudson’s , with its high front and dipped-back hem, had the competitive edge.

Despite her keeping her heels on and hitching up her floor-length dress, there were no Andy Murray-style slips from Hawn as she held her own in front of a crowd that also included Naomi Campbell, Jeremy Piven, Sarah Ferguson and Princess Beatrice.

The gala dinner, held London’s Roundhouse, was in aid of the Novak Djokovic Foundation, which supports sports and educational initiatives in the player’s native Serbia. And, despite losing the championship in straight sets to Murray on Sunday, Djokovic threw himself back into the saddle, so to speak, by taking up the racket against former champ-turned-commentator Boris Becker.

Talk about a gracious loser. Bravo.
