But word has it that the Duchess of Cambridge and Elle Fanning have more in common than the latter's most recent role as a princess.

According to research published by People, Kate and Elle (and, by extension, Elle's big sister Dakota) are actually 21st cousins.

Their common ancestor is King Edward I, aka Edward Longshanks, who was King of England from 1272 to 1307.
