We didn’t know where to look yesterday. In between watching Roger Federer beat Andy Murray in four sets (we’re still talking about it at Elle HQ this morning), we could barely tear our eyes away from the action in the royal box.

The Duchess of Cambridge, who wore a cream dress and jacket by Joseph (both of which she had worn previously), was on tenterhooks as Murray battled against seven-time Wimbledon champion Federer, her emotions playing out across her face. Victoria Beckham, wearing look one from her own autumn winter 2012 collection, remained poker-faced throughout.

Meanwhile, Pippa Middleton wore a blue floral dress by Project D, designed by Dannii Minogue.

Anna Wintour, who is known to be a big supporter of Roger Federer, was there to support the Swiss player.

Other famous faces at centre court yesterday included Rochelle Wiseman and Marvin Humes; News Corp boss Rupert Murdoch was in attendance with his wife Wendi Deng; Cliff Richard was there and so was Ronnie Wood; David Cameron and Boris Johnson were both utterly absorbed by the tennis; and Dr Who’s Matt Smith said it was his first time at a tennis match – and what a match it was.
