Given the attention lavished on Kate Moss’s lunch dates, shopping excursions, pub jaunts, et cetera, chances seemed slim that the supermodel could embark on a new retail partnership without the British press taking notice.
So imagine our surprise when we found an article, tucked away in the entertainment news section of the Times of India, stating that Moss and nine-year-old daughter Lila Grace plan to launch a fashion range for Debenhams.
‘The 37-year-old supermodel has signed an estimated 400,000-pound contract with the high street retailer to do a clothing range of “funky tweenage” designs, which is due to hit the shops in summer 2012,’ the article stated.
Something didn’t seem right about the report, so we picked up the phone to the Debenhams press office right away. Anyone whose heart races at the thought of the return of Designer Kate, take it easy: it’s all a fabrication.
‘We don’t know where they got that,’ a spokesperson told us this morning. ‘Obviously Sadie Frost is friends with Kate Moss, but beyond that, it’s pure speculation.’
Frost and business partner Jemima French were ‘inspired’ to create Iris and Edie, a tween-geared loungewear range, by their teenage daughters. But Debenhams isn’t planning anything similar for Moss—at least not yet.
As you were, ladies.
