Kate, who celebrates her 30th birthday today , wore a three-quarter-sleeved black lace gown by Temperley London to the red-carpet event.
The custom-made gown, inspired by the upcoming pre-fall 2012 collection, featured black lace overlaying an ivory slip, with a black velvet sash further defining her waist. Kate kept accessories relatively minimal, adding to her engagement and wedding rings a simple silver bracelet.
Besides the stars of the film, Kate and Prince William were joined at the premiere by 600 current and former military personnel and their families, as well as beneficiaries of military charities whose work is supported by The Foundation of Prince William and Prince Harry.
Director Steven Spielberg told press that he was ‘honoured’ to dedicate the event to the foundation and described the royal couple’s appeal.
‘It’s a very prestigious honour because they represent an entirely new era in British royalty that has the entire world excited,’ he said.
‘When they came to America, that was one of the most exciting events, I think, that we've enjoyed for some time, so it's such an honour to be here in the UK to be able to meet them and to be able to show them, and all of us, War Horse.’
