London’s Leicester Square was given a glittering make over for the World Premiere of Joe Wright’s adaptation of the classic Leo Tolstoy novel, Anna Karenina, starring Keira Knightley in her most elegant role to date.
Chandeliers hung in the famous London square to give an added level of glamour as A list talent arrived to greet fans. Jude Law, who plays Keira’s on-screen husband, Alexei, was joined by Aaron Taylor-Johnson (who attended with wife, Sam) and young acting talents Alicia Vikander wearing a green Gucci Dress and Cara Delevigne in Burberry.
Both actresses gushed for their leading co-stars saying she was “exciting” to work with – and model-turned-actress Cara found inspiration and encouragement from the Academy Award nominated star, saying “she was so helpful. She said to not think about everything too much and to let yourself become the part. I think when modelling it’s the same. If you don’t think about it you just find it.”
The film itself tells the tale of titular character Anna as she embarks on an illicit affair with a young Count (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) that rocks Emperial Russian high society. Needless to say, the tragic love story doesn't run smoothly. Joe Wright’s lavish adaptation includes some of the most extravagant costumes of the cinematic year – but at the film’s premiere it was Keira who stole all the attention wearing an elegant and sophisticated Chanel dress.
Anna Karenina is in Cinemas this Friday 7 September. Watch the trailer below.
Aaron Taylor-Jonson features in the October issue of ELLE (on sale now) and Alicia Vikander covers the ELLE Style For Less magazine that accompanies the October issue.
