Is there no end to Marc Jacobs’ talents?
With the prolific designer’s cinematic debut on the horizon, we’re about to find out.
Jacobs takes on the role of a sleazy porn baron in Disconnect, a film about the search for meaningful connections in a technologically dependent world.
It's not the first time this year we've seen Jacobs in front of the camera - in February, he stared as a shirtless hunk in a new Diet Coke campaign. But this latest turn is far less glamourous - he’s playing a Fagin-type character and he's wearing ‘bad’ jeans.
Jacobs gave Entertainment Weekly his damning verdict on the costume he had to wear for the part.
‘Nobody would have recognized me at the Dunkin’ Donuts in Yonkers…I had these really tacky suburban disco shirts with crucifixes embroidered on them, and the worst fitting dad jeans – I never wear jeans anyway – but these were just bad and acid washed, with flannel zip jackets sewn to the side. And they put big silver rings on my fingers and earrings.’

All in all, it seems acting is role Jacobs isn't keen to reprise.

‘I enjoyed parts of doing it, but you know, it’s not ever been my dream to act or anything like that. It’s probably the last time I’ll ever do it.’

Andrea Riseborough and Alexander Skarsgard also star. See the trailer for Disconnect below
