At 15, Moretz is less than half the average age of the award’s previous honourees. Since its inauguration six years ago, the award has gone to Emily Blunt, Zoe Saldana, Elizabeth Banks, Ginnifer Goodwin, Katie Holmes and Maria Bello.

MaxMara said its award honours ‘an actress who is experiencing a turning point in her career through her work in the film and television industries and through her contributions to the community at large, in recognition of her outstanding achievements and her embodiment of style and grace’.

Moretz, the star of Hugo, Let Me In and Kick-Ass, has worn looks from brands including Dolce & Gabbana, Chanel, Azzaro, Pucci and Stella McCartney to red-carpet events. Despite all the industry attention, Moretz has said she isn’t foraging for a fashion campaign. ‘I have to give myself room to spread my wings and grow up and become a young woman,’ she said in November 2011.
