McCartney ballet premieres in New York

Sir Paul composed and conceptualised the New York City Ballet production, a love story set in a mythical under-sea world torn asunder by human interlopers.

Naomi Watts, Sarah Jessica Parker, Liv Tyler, Anjelica Huston and Candace Bushnell showed their support at the premiere at Lincoln Center on Thursday night.

Stella said her experience designing activewear for Adidas prepared her for the challenges of dressing dancers—but it took her 10 years of excelling in the fashion industry to feel that collaborating with her father wouldn’t be viewed as ‘total nepotism.’

‘On one side, I am a daughter working with her father, which is an incredibly remarkable experience in life no matter who your father is. It’s also quite an emotional thing,’ she told WWD. ‘On another side, I know and understand I am working with Paul McCartney.’

Sir Paul attended the premiere with fiancée Nancy Shevell. The couple plans to marry in London, at the same venue where Sir Paul wed first wife Linda in 1969. Westminster Council said that the couple posted a notice of intention to marry at Marylebone Town Hall on 16 September, making them eligible to tie the knot for a year from 30 Sept.
