‘I can't wait to be Lily Rose Cooper. It sounds like I should be a country singer,’ the ELLE cover star said at an event for her Lucy in Disguise ready-to-wear collection at Harvey Nichols, unable to suppress a giggle.
The news followed excited Twitter activity from Allen, chronicling her feelings in the run-up to this weekend's big event. Yesterday, the designer tweeted, ‘3 more sleeps,’ and replied to a friend’s check-in with, ‘I'm GREAT, I'm getting MARRIED EEEEEK !!!!!’
One person with conflicted feelings, however, is Allen’s father, Keith. ‘He called me today and said I'd made him cry,’ she told us. It’s not that he disapproves of his daughter’s choice of a husband, but rather that he’s less than enthusiastic to see her trade her surname for Cooper’s. But sister and fellow designer Sarah was there to lighten the mood, laughing, ‘At least you have someone to carry the Allen name along! Owen dies with me!’
Dressed in a leopard-print mini-dress from the collection (teamed with killer Louboutins, of course) the bride-to-be shared Lucy in Disguise anecdotes with an eager fashion crowd, revealing that her favourite vintage find ever was a Biba dressing gown with wizard sleeves, won at auction—this, despite the fact that Cooper isn't a big fan and laughs when she wears it around the house. Allen and Owen were at the Knightsbridge store to host a conversation with ELLE Acting Editor Jenny Dickinson and Senior Fashion Editor Natalie Wansbrough-Jones.
No confirmation yet on who has designed the wedding dress, although rumours are rife that Karl Lagerfeld is on board.
