There, a vintage ice-cream van and candy-striped beach hut entrance set the scene for an LFW nightlife tradition.

‘It was my first-ever fashion show,’ Atwell told us as we waited for a turn in the head-in-the-hole photo board. Was she nervous? ‘I was very excited! It was a lot of energy and a lot of sugar for a very concentrated amount of time. I loved the humour of it, and I loved the dogs.’
The actress promised we would see her at Antonio Berardi and Mark Fast before we wandered off in search of a peach slushy margarita.
Stewart, meanwhile, nipped stageside just before the Hurts set. For anyone who caught the band’s Glastonbury appearance (or anyone who rued missing it), it felt like something special to see them play what may be their last ballroom gig. Singer Theo Hutchcraft broke the hearts of every other woman in that ballroom, however, by apparently dating Alexa Chung, who would seem to have confirmed the rumours by discreetly declining to appear.
At the end of the night, every guest left with a tiger or leopard balloon, forming a wild seaside circus menagerie that bobbed giddily into the midnight London streets.
