In Katy Perry’s case, the solution seems to be dating Karl Lagerfeld’s favourite male model.
The singer has taken up with Baptiste Giabiconi, a French catwalker better known for his chiselled physique and fetching way with a turban than English-language fluency.
The two sat next to each other at Chanel’s autumn winter 2012 show and have been snapped together a handful of times in the weeks since. Giabiconi’s representative told Page Six: ‘It’s new, they’re feeling it out, but they’re spending a lot of time together’—enough time that Giabiconi may move to LA to follow his lady love.
Really, this coupling makes perfect sense. Perry wears cupcakes and candy-canes as stage costumes; Giabiconi agreed to have his nude form rendered in chocolate for Lagerfeld’s Magnum hotel room. Perry stars in singing, dancing, costume-laden music videos bursting with poppy/disco flair; Giabiconi created performance-art spectacles of videos for euro-pop anthems ‘Showtime’ and ‘One Night in Paradise’. And hey, they both like Chanel.
We predict a second Indian wedding for Perry within the year. The best part? Giabiconi already has an outfit all lined up...
