After reportedly receiving the nod from The Queen when she met her great-grandson for the first time today, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have confirmed their newborn son's name - the final piece of the #RoyalBaby puzzle that's been playing out over the media non-stop for the past three thrilling days.
'The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to announce that they have named their son George Alexander Louis. The baby will be known as His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge,' read the short statement issued by Kensington Palace this evening.
All three names featured in the bookies' favourites lists. William Hill revealed that since the baby was born on Monday (at 4.24pm, weighing 8lb 6oz, remember), it had taken 3,400 bets on the name George.
Up till that point, interestingly, the majority of the betting was done on girls' names.
Despite a million theories cropping up already about the significance of George Alexander Louis, word is that both Kate and William simply liked it - though the current trend towards 'old-fashioned' names doubtlessly helped their cause.
