Scarlett Johansson has confirmed her engagement to her boyfriend of 10 months, French journalist Romain Dauriac, after flashing quite the rock on the red carpet in Venice.

Rumours of an engagement have been swirling around the couple since as early as February – the same month, incidentally, that Scarlett graced the cover of ELLE, and opened up about her new relationship – but the enormous diamond Art Deco ring that the actress proudly showed off at the premiere of her new film Under The Skin at the Venice Film Festival is said to have sealed the deal last month.

It the second time around, of course: she married Ryan Reynolds (now Mr Blake Lively) in 2008. They separated in 2010 and divorced the following year.

‘I got married when I was really young and it was incredibly romantic and I liked being married, actually,’ Scarlett told us. ‘But it is different. It’s hard to put into words. Let’s put it this way: to me, being in a functioning relationship doesn’t mean you have to be married. I never think about marriage. Is that weird?

‘The only time I ever think about it is when people ask me, “Would I ever get married again?” It’s really not important to me.’

What a difference six months makes.

Although a rep for Scarlett confirms that a date is yet to be set, something tells us have a wedding dress commission coming their way...
