This month, Scarlett Johansson isn’t just ELLE’s cover star - according to reviews just in – she’s Broadway’s main attraction too.
In an ivory slip with auburn curls and cat eyeliner flicks, Johansson looks every inch the feline charmer in Tennessee Williams’ Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, which opened in New York last night.
Elizabeth Taylor famously played the demanding part - which Johannson has taken on for the show's 15 week run - in the 1958 film adaptation.

After the show’s premiere Johansson explained that the role of Maggie in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof just seemed like the right challenge for her at this point in her career: 'I knew that I wanted to do it and I knew that I could do it.’
And critics agree - Johansson’s performance matches her widely acclaimed 2010 Broadway debut in Arthur Miller’s A View from the Bridge.
Speaking about how thrilled she is to return to the stage, Johansson said: ‘It’s wonderful to be back on Broadway, I’m born and raised in New York and grew up dreaming about some day treading the boards. Being able to have the opportunity to be in this wonderful production is just a dream come true.’
The only thing Johansson is struggling with right now is a stubborn cold. ‘The stamina of doing a 3 hour show has been a little bit draining. I feel like I’ve had the same cold for three months with this job, I’m never going to shake it!’
