We’ve been thinking it for a while, and we’re sure you have too: there just aren’t enough celebrity-run lifestyle blogs to instruct us in the art of curating our existence. Of course, we have Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop, but what are we to do between weekly issues if we suddenly need to know where to buy a Moon Marquee Light or find guidance on how to rediscover ‘the lost art of letter writing’? Thank goodness, then, for Blake Lively’s newly launched website, called Preserve.

A lifestyle site offering us wisdom in all of life’s quandaries ('Do I need a Bistro Apron?' 'What is the political statement I’m making with my ice-cream sundae?'), plus food, fashion and culture features, and an online shop, here are some things we’ve learned from it so far.

1. A 'Preserve' is not a jam.

Nor is it a pickle. In fact, it’s not any kind of foodstuff in a jar. No, Preserve is ‘all of us, together, championing the goods, makers and legends that instill meaning inside the moments of our lives.’ Oh, OK. We were kind of hoping for jam, Blake.

2. Harry Potter is real!

In Blake’s Editor’s Letter, she tells us that, out there, right now, ‘there are people making magic with their bare hands’. We demand a flying broom immediately.

3. We can make up our own prices from now on

Among the life essentials on sale in the site’s shop, Blake promises ‘there’s expensive stuff. There’s inexpensive stuff. Their value is up to you.’ Warning: do not try telling this to the checkout staff at Sainsbury’s – they’re having none of it.

4. We’ve earned the right to a more stylish breakfast

On the aforementioned shop, we’re told that when it comes to eating cereal, ‘The spoon is key for scooping just the right amount of liquid with each bite. After many bowls on many mornings, you’ve earned the right to possess a utensil that kills breakfast – stylishly.’ God knows, we have. Enough of these regular spoons with their inferior milk to cereal ratio! Thank goodness for the site's artisan-made versions, just £10 apiece. (And what to eat your cereal from? Taken care of, too: the site sells ‘Everyday Bowls’, for only £40 each. Phew.)

5. Ice cream is the key to demystifying the fundamental differences between men and women

In the feature ‘Sex on a Sundae’, we learn that, to a man, an ice-cream sundae is ‘a message from the subconscious – a stratified glimpse into a man’s desire hierarchy’. We KNEW it. And for a woman? Well, it’s ‘My own personal Candyland – a society of sweetness where denizens dance happily among sugary structures.’ Bet the author of Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus is feeling pretty silly right now.

6. We NEED a Thought Bubble Board, £145

Not a normal kitchen chalkboard, no, no, no. A special, light-up chalkboard in the shape of a speech bubble, on which on share our innermost musings (and grocery lists). Does it then stop being a thought if it’s in a speech bubble? Whatever, that matters not. What does matter is that: ‘Any thought merits a spot on the board.’ Any thought? Really? Well, we have a few on your site, Blake…
