Although publicists and Olympic organisers have yet to confirm anything officially, band members including Victoria Beckham have encouraged fan clamour with a series of enticing tweets.
On Thursday, Beckham tweeted a picture of a diamante-encrusted microphone identical to the one used on the Spice Girls reunion tour in 2008. 'Look what I found!! X vb', she wrote.
And several sources have said that the Girls (Spice Women, surely?) spent yesterday rehearsing their part in the final event at the 2012 Games, something hinted at further in a tweet from Geri Halliwell: ‘What a lovely day.... I'm smiling.....eeeeee’.
