The iconic Sundance Film Festival in Utah is the place to catch hip, witty indie films months before they hit cinemas.

Here's ELLE's pick of the premieres.

Frank

Michael Fassbender plays Brit musician Chris Sievey, who sports a huge papier-mache head as comic alter-ego Frank Sidebottom.

While we wouldn't usually applaud obscuring the Fass Face, Frank looks like a must-see comedy – especially with Maggie Gyllenhaal and Domhnall Gleeson on co-starring duty.

I Origins

Fresh from her success with the self-penned thriller , Brit Marling re-teams with director Mike Cahill (Another Earth).

This time the versatile actress plays a scientist who makes a startling discovery with lab partner Michael Pitt (Last Days).

Wish I Was Here

Kate Hudson plays wife to Zach Braff, who also writes and helms this mid-life-crisis comedy-drama.

It's Braff's first time back in the director's chair since his acclaimed debut Garden State in 2004.

Laggies

Sharp-as-a-razor indie director Lynn Shelton (Your Sister's Sister) directs her biggest cast yet: Keira Knightley, Chloe Grace Moretz and Sam Rockwell.

Keira plays a woman who pretends to go on a retreat after her boyfriend proposes – but actually hangs out with her 16-year-old friend (Moretz) instead. Expect dark laughs.

They Came Together

We can't get enough of Golden Globes host Amy Poehler - or Paul Rudd, for that matter.

This sees the funny pair play sweet shop owners who have an unlikely romance. Ed Helms and Cobie Smulders co-star.
