Frank
ELLE-favourite Michael Fassbender plays the enigmatic frontman of an oddball band in this offbeat comedy. Based on the eccentric mannerisms of British musician Frank Sidebottom the film wins additional points with a cast of Domhnall Gleeson and Maggie Gyllenhaal.
Dawn
Rose McGowans directorial debut is a gothic-style short film set in the early 60s. The story focuses on Dawn, a teenage girl whose naïve ideals of romance cause her to fall in a dangerous situation.
The Trip to Italy
This heavily-improvised gastronomic-focused film follows a similar premise to An Idiot Abroad, except in this case Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon are the unlikely travelling duo. The definite sell are the absurd but overall natural conversations between the humorous pair.
The Voices
This dark comedy sees a creepy Ryan Reynolds as Jerry Hickfang, a factory worker eventually persuaded to kill by his chatty pets (yes, you heard us right). Gemma Arterton and Anna Kendrick also feature, but the real star has to be Mr. Whiskers
They Came Together
Led by comedy heavyweights Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler, They Came Together is an unexpected deconstruction of rom-com stereotypes. The film follows a mismatched couple, and what do you know, in this case two wrongs do make a right.
