Fans and families flocked to a small hilltop tent on the Cornish estate to hear the Oscar winner read from children’s book Mr Gum.
Resembling countless festival-goers in her jumper, shorts and Hunter wellies, Winslet enthralled the crowd from the first line of her 90-minute reading. She clearly relished the performance, bringing characters Polly, Mr Gum and Granny to life with distinct voices and gestures.
Earlier in the weekend, Port Eliot guests adorned themselves with Meadham Kirchhoff’s floral headdresses, Louise Gray’s fluoro polka-dot makeup, and Luella Bartley’s ad hoc clothes reinventions.
