The guest list, once again, was about as starry as could be. Gwyneth Paltrow, Marc Jacobs, Alexa Chung, Scarlett Johansson, Rooney Mara, Tom Ford, Kristen Stewart and Beyonce (in a sheer embroidered Givenchy Couture gown with a blue feathered train—inspired by Blue Ivy, perhaps?) donned their finest for an event that reigns as the highlight of the annual fashion calendar.
The official reason for all those gowns was the opening of the Costume Institute’s 'Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations' exhibition, and many attendees took cues from the marquee names. Karlie Kloss wore a shocking pink gown and Coco Rocha sported dip-dyed ends in Schiap’s trademark hue.
The crop of Prada fans proved among the best dressed at the event. Linda Evangelista, Miuccia’s date, wore a black peplumed gown by the designer; Paltrow, Kate Bosworth, Eva Mendes and Jessica Biel also wore Prada.
Newlywed Carey Mulligan, a co-chair of the event, came sheathed in sparkling gold and silver scales by—who else?—Prada. ‘I might start losing sequins but that's OK,’ she told WWD. ‘They were very laissez-faire about it.’
