What do you get when you mix iconic image-maker David LaChapelle with the Kardashian family? A mind-boggling feat of neon-lit, hyper-real, dystopian excess – aka the Kardashian Khristmas Kard 2013.
Frankly, it’s rather unsettling. The wide-angle shot captures the Kardashian women power posing against a backdrop that resembles a dilapidated casino/game show set. Nightmareish? Yes, just a bit.
Forget coordinating Christmas jumpers and a roaring fire. There are flames here, alright - but they’re coming from a trash can, fuelled by a pile of discarded tabloid papers.
As for Kanye West and Scott Disick, they're nowhere to be seen. Which is more than a shame. Although poor Bruce Jenner is trapped in what looks like a giant time capsule and little Mason is slumped on an old car seat, lest we forget it’s all about the girls.
The best bit? IT IS ALL ABOUT THE GIRLS. Khloe looks like a magnificent lioness – her hair is suberb. Kylie’s expression is priceless - think Mean Girls - and Kendall appears to be stroking her head with the crystallised hand of one of the nude, broken mannequins strewn across the set.
David LaChapelle is know for his surreal images, and his previous subjects have included David Beckham, Naomi Campbell, Elizabeth Taylor, Hillary Clinton, Leonardo DiCaprio and Britney Spears. Ultimately, all we have to say is to him is, bravo, Mr LaChapelle. The Kardashian Khristmas Kard is extraordinary. Google it.
