Over the past two years Sarah Brown has become a well-respected champion of British fashion. Her wardrobe has been littered with everything from Erdem to Osman Yousefzada (her designer of choice yesterday), appeared on stage at the British Fashion Awards, attended the ELLE Style Awards and opened London Fashion Week . And, of course, she's made friends with Naomi Campbell.
Now that she's moving on to pastures new our focus is turning to Samantha Cameron - will she become the next ambassador the UK fashion industry? Her fashion credentials are, of course, undeniable. She's been the creative director of Smythson for 14 years, transforming it from into a luxury label loved by the fashion crowd and initiating designer collaborations with Erdem and Giles. And while there has been speculation about whether she will continue in her role now that her husband has bagged the top job, it seems that she's keen to combine her work life with any new political duties.
And then there's her wardrobe. She sat front row at the Erdem and Burberry shows at fashion week, she caused quite a stir by choosing an M&S dress to wear at the Conservative Party Conference, and of course there has been much discussion on her Converse trainers over the past few weeks. Her signature look is understated and classic, with the odd designer label mixed in with high street staples, and it's set to be scrutinised more than ever.
Will she be spotted on all the best front rows? Will she swap fashion tips with Michelle Obama and Carla Bruni? And will she adopt the role of Champion of British Fashion that Sarah Brown carved out so perfectly for herself? Only time will tell.
