Also fresh from an Oscar nomination for Best Actress is Rooney Mara, who switched from her usual dark and sombre colour palette to brighten up the Japanese night in this undulating Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci dress for the Japanese premiere of Girl With a Dragon Tattoo.
The beams continued on the red carpet for the 2012 SAG awards, with Emma Stone (nominated for her part in an outstanding cast for The Help) bringing dark drama to the ceremony in a voluminous tea-length Alexander McQueen dress with a lace bustier and matching clutch. Rose Byrne, also nominated for her role in Bridesmaids, sidestepped the traditional gown in favour of an embellished white jumpsuit by Elie Saab.
Last but not least, we can forgive Keira Knightley for her lack of a smile as she was, after all, in London – which anyone who has felt the cold there this week will agree has not been conducive to smiling. She wore a custom made Burberry gown and Chanel jewels to the premiere of Dangerous Method, bringing her signature brand of English Rose elegance back to the red carpet where it firmly belongs.
