Last night's CFDA Awards attracted an impressive line-up of fashion industry insiders, from big name designers to their fans and muses. Wardrobe anxiety pre-event must have been high, but the sartorial choices meet with our approval - we're sure they're all breathing a sigh of relief.
Lady Gaga, of course, wins our award for Most Effort. Not known for her understated style - and she was picking up the fashion icon award after all - she teamed her short teal wig with a custom made Thierry Mugler corset and thong and perilously towering heels.
Among the more demurely dressed guests Naomi Watts sparkled in gold custom-made Calvin Klein Collection dress, Liv Tyler sported a mini dress by her award winning friends at Proenza Schouler and Miranda Kerr showed off her ridiculously toned post-baby body in Michael Kors.
Models Alessandra Ambrosio (in Prabal Gurung), Doutzen Kroes (in J Mendel) and Karlie Kloss (in Jason Wu) all wowed in eye-pooping, floor-grazing red gowns. Chanel Iman looked stunning in a flowing turqouise Max Azria dress.
Ashley Olsen wore a pale blue dress by the twins' label The Row, while Mary-Kate eschewed her own designs and instead sported a black skirt and gold sequin jacket by Chanel. The pair both teamed their looks with bags from The Row's autumn 2011 collection.
Kirsten Dunst gave dresses a miss and instead wore a stylish tux by Patrick Ervell. And Chloe Sevigny debuted a new monochrome leather creation from her line for Opening Ceremony.
