There’s a rumour flying around the fashion world that Hedi Slimane, creative director of Saint Laurent, is designing the tour wardrobe for immortal rockers, The Rolling Stones. A spokesperson for Saint Laurent was unable to comment, but we can't help feeling that this collaboration seems meant to be.

Hedi is well known for his links to music: one of his biggest projects when he was a full-time photographer was following iconic rock acts on tour, from David Bowie to The White Stripes, Beck, Blondie, The Strokes The Libertines and, what do you know, The Rolling Stones. The best of his shots appeared in his coffee table book, Stage.

He has also dressed more than a few musicians for their live performances. He once said in an interview, ‘I love to dress Alex Kapranos [of Franz Ferdinand], The Libertines, Kim [Gordon] and Thurston [Moore] from Sonic Youth and Beck. I especially like the transformation just before going onstage. That's the moment when they become rock stars.’

The Rolling Stones are currently girding their loins for their highly publicised tour which kicks off in London on 25 November. And since Mick, Keith and the gang have kept themselves trim over the passing decades they should have no trouble slipping into Hedi’s famously svelte silhouettes, should the rumours prove to be true.
