VIVA LA VIDA
'I'm probably less square than people think.'

That she’s always been 100 per cent in control:
‘I hate that my shrink is in New York because I’d still be going all the time. It’s nice to have a relationship with somebody you really trust, who you can say anything to, and they have no stake in it, they have no agenda. And it was also helpful at certain times in my life. My father died in a traumatic way, and I had to do post-traumatic stress counselling. I think anyone who can afford it should be in therapy.’

That because they are never photographed together, her relationship with husband [Coldplay singer] Chris Martin is on the rocks:
‘It doesn’t behove us to be a public couple. He certainly doesn’t want to be that. So it’s just better if we don’t – I mean, we’ve never ever walked down a red carpet together, we never will. If people think that that means we’re not together, then – ha ha ha! – so be it.’

That her recent fashion makeover is a publicity stunt:
‘I just got out of sweatpants, out of Mummy mode. I love fashion, but when you’re breastfeeding and you’re a stone-and-a-half overweight, it’s demoralising to try to wear good clothes.’
So what does Gwyneth herself believe that people think of her?
‘That I’m a goody two-shoes. I’m not. And that I’m a strict macrobiotic. I’m probably less square than people think.’
