When you wake up to a text from a supermodel and ELLE cover girl, you know London Fashion Week has started. Especially when the last two people you talked to at dinner the night before were also former ELLE cover stars.

My Friday evening ended with goodbyes to Suki Waterhouse and Keira Knightley at Harvey Weinstein's pre-BAFTA dinner in association with Burberry at Mayfair's Little House; my Saturday began with a request to join Canadian super Coco Rocha (and ELLE cover star and contributor), who is briefly in town.

I wore Giles to the dinner, but on Saturday morning the weather necessitated a warmer look. And, in common with almost every editor this season, it was a flats day. I have never worn socks and brogues before, for fear of looking 'fashion foolish', but a biting wind and showers left me no option but to step out of my comfort zone.

This is the first London Fashion Week in a decade I have done without Fashion Director Anne-Marie Curtis, who is on our June ELLE cover shoot in LA. My other front row companion, ELLE's Assistant Editor Rebecca Lowthorpe, was stuck in Doncaster, stranded on a train after her inbound flight from New York was diverted from Heathrow to Newcastle due to the storm. She was cold, tired and wearing wellies when she arrived at the show at 4pm with her little boy Gus in tow. It was also her birthday. What a trooper!

1. I am a big fan of blogger Susie Bubble - whatever she wears she makes look quirky and completely 'right' at the same time. No idea what the man next to her is wearing though!

2. ELLE's Rebecca Lowthorpe in wellies! With son Gus after a long journey from New York via Newcastle.

3. Not just any food - front row food! A hot lunch is served in the British fashion council's VIP lounge at Somerset House.

Clockwise from left: The Hunter balaclava. ELLE style awards, maybe? All the editor's are feeling flats this season. The courtyard outside the 'loading bay’ that was the setting for 1205 show, officially the coldest catwalk of LFW. Backstage at - model mood board. Debauched debutants? I’m in! ( tea towel invite).

On day two I wore: coat, Joseph Capri pants, Christian Louboutin brogues, bag.

Every morning I ask one of my children about my #lfw outfit. Today's critic is my son Henry (aged 7): 'Meh,' is all he offered. The 2-year-old was more forthcoming: 'Black, black, always black.'
