It’s a dilemma, but one which fortunately I have an answer to. Whatever you want! For , who brought us the iconic and covetable Galaxy dress, is never judgmental or critical of a woman’s choice of look – he is one of the few men I have met who loves women in every way.

Whatever your insecurities, Roland makes you feel better about them. This is why his business and his collections have been going from strength to strength, both here and abroad: understanding how a woman’s mind works and what will make her feel better about herself is crucial for a designer. I think Roland was the first British-based designer to hero the mantra ‘every woman wants a well-cut dress’, and we have watched the dress become a dominant piece in all London collections over the past decade following his lead.

I popped into his London boutique at Carlos Place, Mayfair, where he and his team are based, to talk through and do a spot of shopping. We discussed the new and his new line in accessories, with stylish shoes (‘I was inspired by the letter R,’ he says of their shape) and long boots.

I wore a navy shirt dress by Bastyan and tried-and-trusted Louboutins, with a tan bag and my lightweight trench (it was a sunny day in London). You need to feel comfortable in what you wear to work and this dress was relaxed but smart enough for a day out and about.
