We’re in Jubilee mood, so I asked team ELLE, ‘What would you do if you were Queen for the day?’ This is what they said (some are amusing!):

ELLEuk.com news editor Emily Cronin: ‘Every day would include nap time, and all shoe designers would be ordered by royal decree to invent comfortable yet attractive high heels.’

Features director Alice Wignall: ‘Bad grammar would be punished by a spell in the Tower. There’s a difference between Your Majesty and You’re Majesty and one should know it!’ (Yes, Miss!)

Acting deputy editor Annabel Brog: ‘Men cannot wear sleeveless T-shirts and drink beer at the same time in the sunshine. I am unnerved by it.’ (Annabel says some strange things but we like that.)

Executive fashion editor Stacey Duguid (who looks after our ELLE advertisers on my behalf): ‘I would have 12 covers of ELLE with all of our top advertisers featured on each one!’ (This is the dream.)

ELLEuk.com fashion assistant Alice Watt: ‘Everyone to buy British!’

Chief sub-editor Ivy Storvik: ‘I would ban the peplum and make missing a deadline an act of treason.’ (She’s talking to me about the editor’s letter isn’t she? It’s always late.)

ELLE entertainment editor Seamus Duff: ‘Arrange for the finest gin in all the land to be delivered to the palace in bulk and then get royally sozzled.’ (I believe this happens anyway at ELLE Towers with our gin Fridays.)

(Marc by Marc Jacobs dress, Chanel sunglasses, Comptoir des Cotonniers brogues)

What would I do? Well, to quote one of my favourite lines from Queen Elizabeth I in Blackadder (one of my top comedy characters): ‘First I’m going to have a little drinkie and then I’m going to execute the whole bally lot of you.’

Joseph sample sale bargain: £100 for an Alexander Wang jacket with a velvet detail on the back.

Blue is my chosen colour this season so I have picked some Chanel sunnies that work with everything and my Céline bag.

The David Beckham issue is on sale now...
