How would you describe your personal style?
I always think I end up looking a bit like a 15 year old boy.... I tend to mix streetwear labels like Carhartt, Nike, Levis and Adidas with designers like Simone Rocha, Christopher Kane, Balenciaga..... so even when I'm wearing a skirt it ends up looking kinda tomboyish.
What is there too much of in your wardrobe?
Coats and Air Max.....I have so many of both and I consistently wear the same ones over and over so that the others get totally neglected.
What are your go-to labels?
Simone Rocha, Christopher Kane, Balenciaga, Topshop, Acne...
What are you happiest wearing?
A full Nike tracksuit, bottoms and hoody head to toe in size large.
Whose wardrobe would you love to steal?
Paris Vogue's fashion director Emanuelle Alt's and my friend and jeweller Little Duffy's - he's 6ft.5 so everything he wears is massive and he has the best style, I steal his clothes all the time.
Do you plan your outfits or throw on whatever's to hand?
When I'm working from home I kind of tend to throw on whatever, if I'm on set or at meetings I try to have an idea of what I'm wearing before I go to sleep the night before. It drives me crazy thinking of outfits to wear, so when I find something that works I wear it for days.
What’s the most treasured item in your wardrobe?
I love clothes but I don't really treasure them; I treasure stuff people have given me, things that have some kind of sentimental value.
Where do you look for inspiration if you don't know what to wear?
East London where I live is pretty inspiring, apart from the millions of trendy people who all wear the same stuff, there are the amazing African women at the bus stops on Sunday dressed like exotic birds for church, and I love the rude girls in Dalston, their hair is another level. I'm also really nostalgic by nature... I'm a hopeless romantic and my Irish country childhood and nature inspire me constantly.
What are your styling signatures?
My styling is pretty understated I think, I like it to feel effortless and it's always gotta be about the model and their character so there is some life in there and some personality. Beat up shoes. Clean skin and natural hair.
What has been your career highlight?
Being the fashion director of Twin has been the most incredible experience, I love it and I adore being an integral part of something that I believe in and that I feel I belong to; Twin is my little fashion family. I worked with Rihanna recently too, which was cool as my even my mom knows who Rihanna is.
What have you done for the love of fashion?
I have bad knees from wearing ridiculous heels for years, it means I can't run anymore, which to be honest is not such a bad thing as I kind of hate exercising.
If there is one label we should watch out for in 2012, what should it be?
Simone Rocha, I style her show and her collection this season was so beautiful and clever - I wanted it all. Each season just gets stronger and stronger so it's exciting to see what she's going to do next.
