This weekend, around 32,000 people will flock to Cambridgeshire to take part in the annual independent arts and music festival Secret Garden Party.

Here's the ELLE take on what it's all about.

Theme

Who doesn’t like a themed party? This year, Secret Garden wants to bring out your inner inquisitive Dorothy – it's Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.

You don’t need to go all out… But it’s more fun if you do.

We recommend this:

Sleeveless shirtdress, French Connection

For you Elton John fans out there (yes, we did pick up on this too), this is also the perfect opportunity to pull out the flares and fun, shaped sunglasses.

Pick up these heart shape sunglasses from ASOS.

Sleeping arrangements

The festival is located on the grounds of a Georgian farmhouse, which has its own lake, river and landscaped gardens. We recommend investing a sturdy tent – this is England, after all, and despite showing sun on the weather report today we all know a storm could be on the horizon.

Editor's pick: Lichfield River Tent available at Argos.

Acts

Past acts have included Blondie, Gorillaz, Eliza Dootlitte, Bastille and Grace Jones and on the bill this year are Foxes, Clean Bandit and Public Enemy, to name but a few. Plus, the actual (eight) stages themselves promise to be a treat for the eyes. Expect to be dancing in the middle of a forest, seeing the sun set over a lake or watching fireworks explode off an anchored pirate ship…. Yes, really.

Top tips:

Be prepared for bugs, sun and rain. And, in case we haven't said it enough already, wear comfortable shoes.

ELLE Beauty Director Sophie Beresiner’s top pick is Vichy after- sun. If you burn, this will speed along the healing process.

We love this Parka from Parka London. It's thin, so it wont weigh your bag down, but it's also water- and wind-resistant.

Invest in these ankle boots from Hunter London. They'll go great with both dresses and shorts.
