Is it ever ok to wear shorts for work? Working in a fashion office where the limits of propriety are stretched on a daily basis, it would be easy for us to tell you go ahead, get your legs out and proud. But this season it’s actually true.
Due to a proliferation of snazzy tailored shorts suits on the catwalks and high street, and a great many celebrities opting to wear them for formal events, shorts have skipped their way into the office wear lexicon.
BUT there are rules:
- They must be sharply tailored. Pyjama shorts, frilly bloomers and saggy jersey numbers are not an option.
- Mid-thigh is how high: try not to go higher than this, no matter how great your legs are. Keep the bum-grazers for the dance floor.
- Wear with heels: a demure court shoe is the perfect heel to dress up shorts. Open toed sandals will make them look more dressy, and will look better for an occasion.
- Crisp white shirt: this is the catalyst that will take your shorts from weekend to work.
