With awards season in full swing, Los Angeles is swarming with celebrities from A-List to D. Spotting one isn’t very hard: just grab your biggest, darkest glasses, head for one of the five celeb hotspots below, and try your best not to stare…

Little Dom’s

This hip Italian restaurant is a fairly new addition to the charming eastside neighbourhood of Los Feliz but it’s already proving a hit with local celebrity residents. Rachel Bilson, Charlize Theron, and Ryan Reynolds have all been seen sighted dining on Little Dom’s menu of smoked provolone arancini and butternut squash cannelloni. People-watch over a long outdoors lunch on buzzy Hillhurst Avenue, or swing by the in-house deli to pick up a cappuccino and sneak surreptitious glances into the main dining room.

Runyon Canyon

Los Angeles goes crazy for a fitness fad, but hiking is a workout that never falls out of fashion. On any sunny morning of the week, celebrities and civilians alike can be found heading uphill with their dogs, Starbucks cups and trainers in tow. Located just north of Hollywood and with stunning views across the city, Runyon Canyon is particularly popular with the likes of Amanda Seyfried, Channing Tatum and Orlando Bloom, all of who have been spotted there in the past few months.

Chateau Marmont

At this classic hotel on the iconic Sunset Strip, a celebrity sighting is almost guaranteed. A longtime favourite of the Hollywood set, the Chateau (as it is known by its frequenters) has serious history in its hallowed walls. Photographer Helmut Newton took many of his most famous portraits there; director Sofia Coppola shot a movie there, and comedian John Belushi died there. On any given evening, you can expect to see everyone from Demi Moore to Jude Law enjoying a drink on the idyllic garden terrace. Just don’t expect to see Lindsay Lohan: she’s rumoured to owe the Chateau a cool $46,000 in unpaid room fees.

Il Ristorante di Giorgio Baldi

Los Angeles and refined carbohydrates aren’t exactly a match made in heaven, but Italian restaurant Giorgio Baldi remains a perennially popular dinner date choice for LA starlets and power couples. While we can’t attest to how much pasta is actually consumed inside the restaurant’s exclusive Pacific Palisades premises, we do know that Victoria Beckham, Emily Blunt and Mila Kunis have all been spotted propping up its private corner banquettes. And when Rihanna is in town, she eats there near enough every single night. Must be the munchies…

Staples Center

Home to the Lakers (LA’s most popular basketball team) and the Clippers (LA’s slightly less popular basketball team), courtside seats at the Staples Center are worth their weight in Academy Award gold. Jack Nicholson, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Denzel Washington are all Lakers’ season ticket-holders and can regularly be seen at home games, plastic cups of beer in hand. Meanwhile the Kardashian Clan turn up en masse – and often with Kanye in tow - to watch Khloe’s basketball forward husband Lamar Odom shoot hoops for the Clippers. Buy your own game day ticket at the 20,000-seat arena for just $10 and up.
