Tiara Yaktsa, Cannes

Why Tiara Yaktsa? Because it’s just a short cab ride away from the heart of Cannes. Because it’s clad from top to toe in glamorous Moroccan-inspired decor. Because it’s got decadent Hermes toiletries in the bathrooms. But most of all, because it’s got views – of white yachts drifting by on the sparkling blue Mediterranean – that are just something else. Best taken in from the infinity pool. With a cold glass of something or other nearby.

Hotel Sezz, St Tropez

The second collaboration between Shahe Kalaidjian and one-time Starck sidekick Christophe Pillet, like its sister hotel in Paris, Hotel Sezz is chic. Not just a little bit chic, either, but seriously, painfully chic. A couple of miles along the coast from Cannes in glitzy St Tropez, with its Pierre Gagnaire-headed restaurant and Dom Perignon bar, it’s the place to rock up at if the Cannes party hasn’t gone on for long enough.

Les Rosees, Mougins

You don’t get much in the way of pomp and swagger or bellhops for your buck at Les Rosees, but your average privacy-craving starlet fresh from the Cannes red carpet would feel right at home. With its own dressing room and a tower-shaped reading room, Isadora is probably the most romantic room, but there are only four suites to choose from, and they’re almost all equally lovely.

Chateau de la Chevre d’Or, Eze

Modern and modish it certainly isn’t, but it’s easy to imagine a star from the Golden Age of Hollywood gliding around the Chevre d’Or’s manicured terraces and gazing out at the glittering sea below. While the Presidential Suite with its own private infinity pool and fabulously grand, overwrought decor is one of the more glamorous suites on the Riviera, from the Michelin stars to the sybaritic spa, it’s a case of floor-to-ceiling luxury to match the views.

Le Mas Candille, Mougins

Like the Chateau de la Chevre D’Or (above), Le Mas Candille is a hotel for lovers of a certain sort of old-fashioned sort of luxury. 20 minutes inland from Cannes, with acres of grounds to stroll through, a celebrity chef run Michelin-starred restaurant, and a Shiseido Spa frequented by the likes of Angelina Jolie and Vanessa Paradis, it’d provide the perfect respite from the flash of cameras and the shoving of the press scrum.
