Berners Tavern

Opened: 13th September 2013

Jason Atherton is our restaurateur of the year. Not only has he added to his already outstanding Michelin-starred restaurant, Pollen Street Social, with the opening of Little Social and The Social Eating House this year, he now opens his latest venture, Berners Tavern at The London Edition Hotel. Again dedicated to the modern British fare he is so well known, Berners Tavern’s menu will have every food- lover salivating at the thought. Elegantly and tastefully designed, Atherton has another winner.

Hoxley & Porter

Opened 12th September 2013

Islington welcomes one of the most exciting new bars to open in London this year. Oozing 1920’s chic, the Hoxley & Porter is as close as you may get to drinking cocktails on the Orient Express in the heart of London. Dining spaces are fashioned from glamorous dining cars, vintage suitcases adorn the walls and the bar is dressed with art deco mirrors. If you’re after a recommendation, try the cocktail ‘Whatever Doesn’t Kill You’, on top of its threatening name, it changes colour and is topped off with an absinthe coated scorpion. Really.

Boulestin

Opened 5th September 2013

Wolseley, step aside, there’s a new fashion- breakfast destination in town. Clad in racing green leather chairs from the 1930’s, antique mirrors and Jean-Emile Laboureur prints, Boulestin delivers that elegance that the fashion crowd crave. French brassiere in style, eggs can be found every which way alongside croque monsieur and madame, and Moules Marinières come lunch. As expected, a fully-fledged and well thought through French wine list shall ice the cake of any meal at Boulestin.

There is gin on tap and a rather enticing happy hour, and in the kitchen, Head Chef Oliver Tobias presents a menu of eclectic modern British cuisine, with, of course, a few gin influences.
