Five of the Best Places to Stay in Ibiza

By Susan Ward Davies

Pikes

If it's a bit of R&R you're after from your time in Ibiza, then Pikes is probably not the place for you. If you’ve sailed into Ibiza for full-on 24-hour partying, however, then it most definitely is. An Ibizan institution ever since Wham! filmed their Club Tropicana video here and put it firmly on the map, anyone who’s anyone has been seen here. And the crowds have certainly continued to roll in - not just for the impressive sound system, the well-shaken cocktails and the hot pink tennis courts, but also to have owner Tony Pikes regale them with his heady rock 'n' roll tales from over the years.

Can Xuxu

If you're looking to up your game in the style stakes, then Can Xuxu hits all the right notes. Its French owner Alexandre Narakas is a former fashion designer and what he doesn’t know about what’s hot probably isn’t worth knowing. All of the suites have been individually designed, and come with their own private terraces, while the chic Japanese pavilions have their own outdoor showers. There’s also a 14-metre pool to hang out by, plus a relaxation zone filled with wooden day beds. You can pretty much take it as a given that there’ll be instagramming opportunities aplenty, so make sure you’re dressed the part...

Candomo

Candomo is a gorgeous hideaway in the hills that’s just made for getting away from it all. A former 17th-century Ibicenco farm surrounded by olive trees, inside it's filled with gorgeous rustic touches and antique French furniture. Owner Alexandra rustles up some wonderful organic, home-cooked food which you can eat outside on the terrace. If you’re in need of a dose of total seclusion and a bit of a detox, then we'd definitely recommend packing a good stack of books and quite literally heading for the hills...

Ushuaia Ibiza Beach Hotel

Another hotel that falls into the serious partying category is the Ushuaia Ibiza Beach Hotel. With its beachside location, on-site club and rentable private party rooms, there are few places to stay on the island that can match it for unabashed hedonism. A booking at the hotel ensures you a free access-all-areas pass to the world-famous DJ sets, the central main stage and the enormous (and we mean enormous – the area can accommodate 5,000 people) beach pool. Suites offer Hollywood-style mirrors and a wealth of beauty products, so you can sashay downstairs to party in style.

Hacienda Na Xamena

At the other end of the partying spectrum sits Hacienda Na Xamena. Right up at the far north of the island, it’s rural Ibiza at its best, offering unrivalled seascape views from its secluded cliff top location. For the ultimate indulgence, there are heated private pools, waterfalls, Jacuzzis and a seriously impressive Thalassotherapy saltwater spa. If you’ve had enough relaxation, head to the whitewashed restaurant with floor-to-ceiling windows and only the freshest fish available on the menu. Alternatively, head to one of the suites, which are carved out of the cliff side and come complete with lounge areas, private terraces, and even in some cases, their own in-room Jacuzzis. Clubbing? No thanks.
