Pop in to Visit the Queen

Alright, so he doesn’t actually mean drop round for tea and scones. But he did pick the palace out for a special mention on his list of favourite things to do in London: “Buckingham Palace is in the heart of London and it’s been the scene of so many great moments in British history – none of us will ever forget the amazing wedding last year and best of all, it’s open for visitors during the summer so you can have a look around the State Apartments.”

Make for a Park

The charms of a good London park, it seems, are not lost even on multi-millionaire megastars: “Hyde and Regents Park are like an oasis in the Central London. Or get away from it all in Richmond Park where you can see wild deer, horse ride and amazing views across London.”

Theatreland

It’s a bit difficult to imagine the Beckhams sitting down to a night at the theatre en famille, but apparently it happens: “If there’s one thing you can’t miss when you’re in London, it’s Theatreland. I love going out with the family to a show. The West End is famous for musicals and shows and they are great for a night out or a family matinee.” Particular favourites? War Horse and Jersey Boys.

Eat at Ceconni’s or NOPI

Being a highly paid athlete doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t get stuck into a good meal from time to time. But in which of the best restaurants in London are you most likely to spot the Beckhams? “The Ivy, Ceconnis or Nobu” or “somewhere new like the Bread St Kitchen or Nopi”. So now you know.

Escape the City for the Day

“Where better to end a bracing walk than sat by a log fire in one of our beautiful country pubs”, says Beckham. We couldn’t agree more – particularly in this so-called summer. Where to go to break out from the city for the day? Amersham’s always a good bet – a lovely old village out in the countryside of quaint old houses and, crucially, an Ilse Crawford-designed coaching inn, The Crown. Best of all, though, it’s still on the Tube network.

And One More Beckham London Favourite for Luck...

Eels out East

Posh dining is all well and good, but everyone likes to return to their roots. And in Beckham’s case that means East: "Here’s an insider’s tip for a real East London food experience – you’ve got to try Pie & Mash (Tony Lane)." Eels, anyone?
