Around 50,000 revellers saw, smelt and tasted clouds of apple, cherry and strawberry mist, peach snow, ‘floating oranges’ – thousands of enormous bubbles filled with Seville orange-flavoured smoke – and 40,000 grams of edible banana confetti filled the sky. This was all made possible by Vodafone, in partnership with the Mayor of London.

Vodafone hosted us for the night at The Corinthia Hotel, situated just footsteps away from London's Embankment, in one of their luxury restaurants. To get us in the mood to watch (and taste) London's fireworks, we were treated to a four-course meal and champagne. When the time came, we braved the cold for the best view in London for the final countdown. Joining us were creative food genius' Bompas and Parr – two men on a mission to bring this brand new twist to London's New Year fireworks. From the creators of a fruit salad boating lake at London's Kew gardens and a drive thru revolving restaurant at The Old Selfridges Hotel, we were expecting big things. Midnight went off with a bang, far from disappointing. The sky sparkled, Big Ben chimed and the wind blew edible confetti through the crowds. We won't forget ringing in the New Year in a hurry. And with such a great start to our year, we hope 2014 continues in the same way. Happy new year!
